What factors into how you understand family?

Whatever we  ourselves to is what we  ourselves to.

 

What did Jesus have to say to ordinary people like us?

What did He do in people’s lives? Including His own earthly family?

 

Birth Pains (Luke 1:26-33)

  • Note… Mary and Joseph had .
  • Being all in the family means you have a birth pain .
  • "A whole new generation of Christians has come up believing that it is possible to 'accept' Christ without  the world." - A.W. Tozer
  • Question: What  you give up and have  God is “okay with?”

 

Q & A & Q (Luke 2:41-52)

  • Note… it took Mary and Joseph .
  • Being all in the family means you have a  to overcome.
  • "What crowds our view is the Enemy’s skill at cropping photos." – Louie Giglio
  • Question: When you assume Jesus is missing, where  you actually looking for Him? Why?

 

Persistent Whining (John 2:1-5)

  • Note… Mary had a personal  in Jesus.

  • Question: As you name the next miracle you want Jesus to do, how is He, in turn,  you?

  • Jesus grew up in a big  (Mark 6:3)
  • His brothers in Him. (John 7:5)
  • Jesus never sinned, which means He  His family perfectly. (1 Peter 2:22, Exodus 20:12)

 

Thicker Than Blood (Mark 3:20-35)

  • Note… Mary and her kids were .
  • Being all in the family means you trade  for .
  • "What Jesus does with His statement is demonstrate that as important as His earthly relatives are to Him, they have no special  on Him.." – R.C. Sproul
  • Question: When you have to choose between keeping your family  versus  Jesus, what will happen?

 

Cross Paths (John 19:26-27)

  • Note… Mary was  to Jesus.
  • Being all in the family means you  of real needs.
  • "If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." (1 Timothy 5:8)
  • Question: How is God calling you to ?

 

Your story really does matter to Jesus:
