Pastor Tom Lundeen

When we don’t know who we are, or if we have  about who we are…it will impact every aspect of our lives...

God calls us:

 1. To

Note Genesis 1

Greek word =  = a calling, and invitation…

As God called Israel to be His people in the Old Testament, Jesus called people to follow Him:

•  (note Matthew 4:19; Luke 5:27; John 1:43)
• Rich young ruler (note Mark 10:21)
•  listening to Him (note Matthew 16:24)
•  restoration after his failure and Jesus’ resurrection (note John 21:19).

 = ekklesia (kleis = a calling).

So the Church are called- ones.

This calling is purely an  of God (note John 6:44; Acts 9:1-6).

Note Romans 1:6-7a; 1 Corinthians 1:2, 9; 2 Thessalonians 2:14

We have to respond to this  to become part of God’s special people/family of called-out ones.

God calls us:

2. To Experience His

• Called to God’s purposes through good and painful experiences of life (note Romans 8:28).
• Called to  (note Colossians 3:15).
• Called to  (note Galatians 5:8).
• Called to eternal life (note 1 Timothy 6:12).
• Called to do  (note 1 Peter 3:9).
• Called to suffering (note 1 Peter 4:16).

When God calls us to Himself, it’s not a  suggestion.

Note Colossians 3:23

Our  calling as followers of Christ is by Him, to Him, and for Him. (Guinness)

3. To  Our Life for Him

God calls us to follow Him and serve Him in every  and  of life…

Where are you finding your REAL ID:

• So here’s the biggest challenge for most of us: keeping God’s callings in the right  and priority.
• Too often we want to know Jesus’  calling for our life and make that the first priority.
• The best way to know the specific ways God wants us to daily invest our lives is to make sure we’ve responded to His invitation (say 'Yes!' to Jesus as Lord), and that everything we do, we do for God’s .
