Unstoppable (part 2)

Last Sunday we took time to unpack:

1. How is it Possible the Christian Faith Has Survived and Thrived?

And then we started to answer a very important question:

2. So What Is Jesus Doing Now?

And we learned that:

A. He's building His Church/Forever Family

So what else is Jesus doing now? 

B. He is  His Children Close - Jesus is not an  parent/friend/landlord (note Luke 12:6-7). Even in a chaotic world filled with broken people, Jesus followers have confidence because He has promised we are never alone (note Hebrews 13:5b); and He has promised to never let go of our  (note John 10:27-28). Note 2 Timothy 1:12b. This  makes Jesus' Church unstoppable. 

C. He is  for His Children - note Hebrews 7:23-25; 9:24; 1 John 2:1; Romans 8:26-27, 34; John 17:9, 11, 15, 20). Because Jesus is  for...everyone who has said 'YES!' to Him as Lord, this makes Jesus' Church unstoppable. 

D. He is  Our Forever Home - note Psalm 19:1-4; Romans 1:19-20. Jesus has been working on each of our heavenly places/rooms for  years! And where we will spend eternity is  by any level of human sin (note John 14:2-3; 1 Corinthians 2:9). We who are Jesus followers have His promise that this world system doesn't have the final word. And that truth makes Jesus' mission through His Church unstoppable. 

E. He is Working in and Through His Church to  His Mission - Note Isaiah 53:4-6; Matthew 1:20-21; Luke 2:10-11; 19:10; Matthew 9:11-12; John 3:16. It was His  command and still is His  concern (note Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-47; John 20:21; Acts 1:8). There is no other reason Jesus came... (note John 14:6). The heart, the passion, and the  priority of Jesus is to rescue lost people and make them found people (note 1 Timothy 1:15; Acts 4:12). It's why He has given us His Word, the gift of prayer, the gift of His Holy Spirit, and the promis of His unchanging and never wavering presence. It's why He is  His 2^nd coming (note 2 Peter 3:9). In fact, Jesus' mission is the entire  point of human history (note Matthew 24:14).

UNSTOPPABLE:

• It's the only reason Riverside Church  and for many years now has been a pretty spiritually healthy, united, growing church. 
• Jesus will continue to  us and use us as we stay faithfully engaged in His mission, and this makes Jesus' mission through His Church unstoppable.
