Passage: 1 Samuel 17:1-58
How does David model for us how we can conquer giants in our lives?
Pastor Tom Lundeen
Giants are problems/obstacles that large over us, often produce fear, and paralyze us moving forward.
So how do you and I defeat these giants in our lives that detour, discourage, and paralyze us from the purpose and plan and God has for our lives?
Last Sunday we looked at:
How else does David model for us how we can conquer giants in our lives?
In this account, encouraged David? did.
Note 1 Samuel 17:32-33
Note 1 Samuel 30:6
It’s critically important that you and I learn how to encourage ourselves because when we’re trying to follow Jesus and His plan and purposes, and we come up against a giant on our journey, we often will discover that the only person who will encourage you is .
Encourage/ yourself in the Lord…
When I encourage myself in the Lord I’m embracing as my trust in God’s grace, power, goodness, and resources…
...there are problems, struggles, pain, and obstacles that are so difficult and giants so big that all the thinking in the world can’t touch it.
Trite sayings, cliches, and clever memes don’t move the needle when you’re dealing with large and intimidating giants.
In the most , darkest times of life, you need the solid rock of trust in the love, life, plan, and sovereignty of God to encourage yourself in the Lord because and nothing else can give you that strength and encouragement.

matters (note Hebrews 11:6; Galatians 3:11; Romans 14:23b; Matthew 9:29).
God lets us choose to .
David was simply a , a weapon in God’s hand to demonstrate His majesty and glory.
The faith-in-God factor is the -maker.
We are given the privilege of inviting the God of the universe into our lives and into our circumstances and to take the lead as we walk toward the giants that into our lives.
