What Do You See?

Pastor Tom Lundeen

Being able to see what's  is so important as we navigate a world that thinks truth is a moving target and God is obsolete...

A borrowed ax and a king and his army that had forgotten how God through Elijah had blessed them in the past challenges us in 2022 to ask ourselves, What do I  see?

1. Something

Note 2 Kings 6:1-4

Pandemics, politics, cancel culture, , soaring gas prices, etc., cannot stop Jesus from building His Church!

Note 2 Kings 6:5

It was new technology...which is always most expensive when it's .

Note Exodus 22:14-15

...this prophet is now responsible for a  debt he didn't have the means to repay.

What hope can you have when something valuable is , unseen, and unreachable?

Note 2 Kings 6:6a

God  in finding anything and anyone that's lost (note 2 Kings 6:6b).

...nothing is impossible with God, nothing is unreachable for God, and nothing is  by God (note 2 Kings 6:6c).

...Elisha  others in God's story and makes them participants in God's amazing work (note 2 Kings 6:7).

Another important  God used to pay a debt none of us could ever repay.

2. Something

Note 2 Kings 6:8-15

Elisha andhis assistant are  and threatened with capture and probable execution.

But Elisha is  unconcerned and doesn't even break a sweat (note  2 Kings 6:16).

We need to remind ourselves that what we can see is not the only  that's there.

There's a spiritual realm that is behind  of only human sight (note Psalm 34:7; 91:11-12; Ephesians 6:10-12).

Note 2 Kings 6:17-18

Sometimes we have to be put in a place where we have no control and can't see the  so we can actually see God and His plan and purpose.

Note 2 Kings 6:19-21

This was the Lord's victory.

God was making clear to the Kings of Syria and Israel that neither of them were  in charge (note 2 Kings 6:22-23a).

The God who saves that Elisha represents shows Himself to be merciful to those who  His mercy (note 2 Kings 6:23b).

Perfectly UNEXPECTED:

  • In our  world that considers truth a moving target and the idea of an Almighty God obsolete, it's more important than ever to ask ourselves, What do I really see?
  • Do I only see what's  and unreachable?
  • Do I only see the difficulties and threatening circumstances at a  level?
  • Or is my prayer, Open my eyes and let me see?
  • Note 1 John 4:4 and Romans 8:31
