It's easy to wonder if God really speaks to us in the midst of our busy lives. When He seems hard to hear, we must remember that He desires for us to know and hear from Him. So just how does God communicate with us?

The Art of Listening

We're in an important series about how all of us have to navigate important moments in our lives where we aren't sure what we should do...these are Now What? moments, and depending on what we do or don't do, these times will have significant impact in our lives and futures.

 

In the rush of our full lives, we can at times  if God is really speaking to us.

 

When we wrestle with hearing from God we must  and remember that He desires that we know and hear from Him. (Psalm 19:1-4; Acts 17:27)

 

1. How does God communicate with us? 

 

A. God's Word is timeless truth that stirs  response in us. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:105)

 

B. Prayer enables us to bring our concerns before God and  our will with His. (Philippians 4:6-7)

 

C. The Holy Spirit is  present in our lives... (Acts 1:8John 16:13)

    ...providing  guidance and real-time feedback. (John 14:26)

 

D. In walking through life with other Jesus followers, God's love further becomes  and visible. (Proverbs 27:27)

 

a.  (Proverbs 12:15; Proverbs 27:9)

 

b.  (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

 

E. Our everyday circumstances are an opportunity for  dialogue. (Proverbs 16:9; Romans 8:28) 

 

a.  (Romans 12:2)

 

b.  (Psalm 116:12-13)

 

c.  (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 12:6; Psalm 34:18)

 

 

2. While we do not lack ways to hear from God, we can lack open  to see and ears to hear (Matthew 13:9, 16; Proverbs 3:5-6)
