What Do I Want to Accomplish?

Pastor Tom Lundeen

Today our focus will take some of the truths we've learned already the past 2 messages and unpack them in a bit more detail by seeing that because Jesus knew what His life was for and what He was to accomplish, He wasn't  by stress.

1. Jesus Knew His  (note John 8:14b)

Note Matthew 1:21 and Luke 2:10-11, 41-49; Matthew 4:17, 19; 8:14-17; Mark 1:35-39; 2:15-17; Luke 15:3-7; 19:10

2. Helps Me  Through Life's Circumstances

Life is often a .

Jesus' 3 year earthly ministry was filled with  and  (note Luke 9: 46-48; 22:24-26; Matthew 22:15; 12:14; John 5:18; Matthew 7:28-29; 13:53-58; John 6:2, 26).

Every week Jesus had to navigate a roller coaster of genuine needs, bad motivations, unreliable emotions, spiritual arrogance, and sometimes the very worst of  being directed at Him through all sorts of people (note Mark 8:31-33; Luke 22:3).

Jesus understands our stress because He endured physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual stress at  no human being ever has, or ever will experience.

But because Jesus knew His purpose and what He was supposed to accomplish, the very real stress He experienced didn't distract, , or demolish His daily life and His mission.

Because He knew His purpose and what He was to accomplish, He didn't get swept away by the high points and positive experiences, and He didn't get depressed and  by the low points and negative experiences He went through.

  • This is why it's possible to have less stress and more rest in our daily lives.
  •  is actually one of God's ways to experience less stress and more rest (because you are doing and being what God designed you to be and do).
